alright...more updates about that gas leak incident. so, as some of you have heard, but most have not...i went to the Emergency Room 2 nights ago. yah, not too fun. i was feeling pretty junk again, so i went outside with Tam to get some air, but i ran across the Resident Adviser on duty as i was walking out of the building. Good thing too, because i started blacking out and my hands, feet, and stomach were getting numb. then, one of the other executive directors for another dorm passed by and she tried getting in touch with public safety. boy did they take long...we called one of the school's student EMTs, but it was against policy for her to come and check on me. Instead i had to wait another 10 minutes for public safety to come. I was walking back into the dorm (with the help of the two Resident Advisers) and someone apparently called the ambulance. This wasn't part of the plan because an ambulance costs about $600 for a 3 minute ride to the hospital. I was pretty confused by this time, so I ended up going in the ambulance anyway.
Well, the hospital didn't do much for me either. Except scare me by telling me that i had traces of carbon monoxide in my blood (they did blood work, but didn't find much), and give me some nausea medication that didn't work too well (I threw up as they were releasing me). Oh well, my friends were there at least. Joe, Tam, and James were all there to keep me company, so the experience wasn't as scary. Still...
So the Resident Director doesn't believe us though. Public safety and our RA told us that it was a good possibility that they would find us another room to live in. But the RD came into our room, and all she could say was, "You can't have a coffee maker in your room." Wow...what a way to change subjects...But she came back again today...spoke about the coffee maker again, and pretty much told us that we have no proof that the natural gas affected any of us. However, student health had a meeting about what had happened to all of us, and the lack of responsibility taken the first time...so they are trying to change certain policies. Thank goodness for that. No one should ever be told by an imbecile (the same man that called the ambulance) that you should stay in your room when there is a gas leak. And it's ridiculous to be told, "Don't worry about your health. It won't combust."
That's all I have to say about that.
